Former University of Nevada, Reno President Milton Glick is being remembered as a great community leader who fought for education.

Thousands of people attended a memorial service at the Lawlor Events Center on Thursday to pay their last respects to the school's 15th president who died of a stroke on Saturday at the age of 73.

Ex-regent Howard Rosenberg described Glick as a real human being who was approachable to everyone on the UNR campus.

UNR provost Mark Johnson says he was a man who stated his clear principles with a rare mixture of decisiveness, inherent goodness and decency.

Developer and UNR benefactor Harvey Whitemore says Glick created an institution that will succeed despite the current economic challenges. He says the university's graduates will be his legacy.
