Man using walker killed while crossing Boulder Highway

Pedestrian killed

A man using a walker was killed Thursday night when he was struck by a car while crossing Boulder Highway, near Lamb Boulevard, Metro Police said.

The incident happened about 8:25 p.m. as the man attempted to cross the road near the Town & Country Manor extended-stay hotel, police said.

Metro Police Lt. Dan McGrath said the man was crossing the six-lane highway East to West, without being in a crosswalk or at a light signal, when he was hit by a vehicle traveling southbound.

He was killed instantly, police said. His name was not released.

Police closed down a half-mile stretch of highway around the accident scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates the accident was caused by pedestrian error, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
