After 14 years, the MGM Grand is shutting down the Studio 54 nightclub on Jan. 18 to make room for a new nightlife venue.

A final party will be held Jan. 7 to bid farewell to the venue modeled after the famous ’70s club in New York City, according to a news release. Patrons will toast the club that opened in 1997 and helped spark the Las Vegas nightlife craze, the release said.

MGM is waiting to announce further details about the new venue that will take the place of Studio 54.

The change is a part of the property’s renovation plans, which include improving guest rooms, the casino floor and restaurants, the release said.
