What a great way to spend the weekend.
High school football games will be played Saturday this week in the Las Vegas Valley, including a battle of top teams in the Southeast Division that could likely decide which school wins the league title.
Defending league champion Liberty hosts Del Sol in a rematch of one of the best games last season. Liberty erased a 10-point deficit in the final minutes to force overtime and eventually beat perennial power Del Sol. The win sparked Liberty to its first league title, and eventually a spot in the state semifinals.
Del Sol, meanwhile, was never the same after finishing fourth in the league and losing in the first round of the postseason, snapping a streak of four straight years with a playoff victory. Del Sol will be playing today for redemption, while Liberty is looking to flex its muscle in the quest to be the new class of the Southeast.
Also, Palo Verde travels to Cheyenne in a battle of undefeated Northwest Division teams, Las Vegas High looks to stay undefeated against Valley in a battle for first place in the Northeast Division and 3A classification Moapa Valley is playing for another victory against a large-school team when it hosts Faith Lutheran.
