A day after officially starting as Henderson’s city manager, Jacob Snow was sworn in before the City Council at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Snow, the former general manager of the Regional Transportation Commission, is replacing Mark Calhoun, who announced his retirement in February after 29 years working for the city.
Snow, who was born in Boulder City, said he was honored to be working for the city he has called home for 23 years.
He praised the city for its development and growth over the last 20 years, including its development of a nationally recognized parks system.
“I’m proud to be a resident of Henderson, and I’m even more proud to be an employee of the city,” he said. “I look forward to working with you as we work to do great things.”
During the swearing in, the five city council members all donned bicycle helmets as an ode to Snow’s prior work with the RTC.
Snow will receive a $225,000 salary as city manager.
He will come in to the city as it is facing a $13 million budget shortfall. He has said his first order of business as city manager is meeting with department heads and the city’s finance department.
