NBA guard Kyle Lowry is expected to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court in February on a misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly throwing a basketball at a female referee and threatened her during a pickup game in September in Las Vegas.

Lowry, 25, who plays for the Houston Rockets, allegedly taunted Infini Robinson while she was officiating an game between NBA players Sept. 22. Police say he threw the ball at her torso and cursed at her when the game ended.

Robinson was hit by another basketball while she was changing her shoes in an area designated for officials.

The report says Lowry later apologized, saying he let his emotions get the best of him.

Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey says he is aware of the complaint but is not commenting on the legal matter.

The court has issued a summons for Lowry with a return court date of Feb. 2, according to the Clark County District Attorney's office.
