House fire

The Henderson Fire Department rescued a puppy from a house fire Thursday evening near Warm Springs Road and Green Valley Parkway.

Fire crews were called to a home on Buckskin Street at 5:56 p.m. after a person inside the home smelled and saw smoke inside the house, officials said.

Firefighters saved the family’s puppy before locating and extinguishing the fire burning inside the home’s exterior wall and beneath the floor boards, officials said.

Damage is estimated at $40,000.

No injuries were reported, officials said. The fire was determined to be accidental, but the cause is still under investigation.
