Letter to the editor:

Barbour decision hurts Mississippi

Wed, Jan 18, 2012 (2 a.m.)

Haley Barbour, the ex-governor of Mississippi, has handed people who are against the death penalty a setback.

When the governor pardoned close to 200 criminals, including murderers, he put the population on notice to be afraid because these people are no longer criminals and can buy implements that can kill — guns.

Oh, yes, BP was involved in the oil spill that coated the beautiful coast of Mississippi and severely cut tourism. BP is now advertising that the beaches welcome you again. Really, I think everyone will think twice before going there.

A final thought: Haley Barbour was going to run for president. Thank goodness it never happened.
