Robbery scene

Metro Police are investigating a heist involving Air Jordans near Summerlin, where one man was taken to the hospital after being shot.

Police say a man — who was using Craigslist to sell the popular athletic shoes — met with four men outside a Shell Gas station near Gowan Road and Cliff Shadows Parkway around 9:05 p.m.

The man was showing the shoes to the group when one member of the group took the shoes from his vehicle, police said. The four men then jumped back into their van and drove off.

Police say the man who was trying to sell the shoes got into his vehicle and chased the van.

During the chase the van crashed into a wall and the occupants of both vehicles got out, police said.

The man chasing the van then took a handgun from his vehicle and fired shots, one of them grazing the back of a suspect, police said.

The three other men fled the scene on foot while the man who was shot waited for emergency responders, police said. The shoe vendor also waited for police to arrive.

The suspect who was shot was arrested in connection with the theft attempt and was taken to University Medical Center to treat his injuries, police said.

Police are on scene looking for the other three men who they believe fled to an apartment complex nearby.

Police said the incident is related to one earlier Monday evening on the 3300 block of Novat Street in which two armed men robbed a person also selling Air Jordans on Craigslist. Police are investigating whether the seller is the same person in both cases.

It is unclear whether the man who fired at the suspects will be arrested, police said. The scene is still under investigation.
