A man who arrived at a hospital shortly after authorities were called to investigate a shooting Sunday in North Las Vegas has died.

North Las Vegas police reported that authorities were called at 10:08 p.m. Sunday to a house in the 2600 block of Ward Street, near Martin Luther King Boulevard and June Avenue, to investigate a report that shots had been fired. Officers found evidence at the scene suggesting a shooting had occurred, but no one was home and a victim could not be located.

Twenty minutes later, a police dispatcher received information that two gunshot victims had arrived at University Medical Center.

One, a 31-year-old Las Vegas man, died of his injuries. The other victim, 28, also of Las Vegas, suffered injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.

In a news release, police said preliminary investigation showed the two were shot in the backyard of the house on Ward Street, then were driven to the hospital by a third party.

The homicide was the first in North Las Vegas this year, police said. No other information was available.

Authorities urge anyone with information to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at (702) 633-9111. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
