A Hawaii man said he’s planning to buy a house after winning more than $60,000 on a single roulette bet in downtown Las Vegas.
With a crowd around the roulette table Wednesday night at Binion’s Gambling Hall, longtime dealer Carlos Basaldua gave the wheel a spin with $66,200 riding on "even." Eight was the winner.
Eight is also the number of casinos the man called trying to place the bet, he told people at Binion’s. He learned $20,000 was the limit on a single bet. Binion’s said it would cover it.
“We are in the gambling business; this is what we do,” Terry Caudill, owner of Binion’s and the Four Queens Hotel & Casino, said in a statement. “It is somewhat unusual that he wanted to risk such a large amount. I consider these kinds of requests on a case-by-case basis.”
