Two small fires burned at separate hotels on the Las Vegas Strip overnight but caused no injuries, the Clark County Fire Department said.
Firefighters responded shortly after 4 a.m. Friday to a vehicle fire in a parking garage at Caesars Palace, spokesman Dan Kulin said. Four vehicles were damaged in the blaze.
A fire occurred around 5:30 a.m. in a generator room on the fourth floor of the Riviera hotel. The fire generated heavy smoke but was contained to the generator room, Kulin said.
Elsewhere in the valley, a dog and a cat were killed in a house fire that also displaced three adults.
Firefighters think the fire, which was reported at 3:11 a.m. at 7440 Shuster St., spread from an unattended fireplace into the rest of the home and attic, Kulin said.
Damage to the home near West Warm Springs Road and South Valley View Boulevard is estimated at $150,000, and the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
