Are Centennial, Canyon Springs in the elite?

There are topics aplenty on this week's episode after an eventful slate of games. Centennial and Canyon Springs, most notably, presented arguments for being included with the best teams in town. Are Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer buying the Bulldogs and Pioneers? Listen in on the debate, a discussion on touchdown celebrations and a breakdown of this week's games.

Most football coaches would take a gritty win over a glitzy win any day.

That could explain Spring Valley coach Marcus Teal’s giddiness after his team’s 22-12 road victory against Valley Friday night.

“It was a nail-biter there for a little bit,” Teal recalled. “But our defense backed us all night. We were able to come through and play tough.”

Both teams scored a few times early, but failed to gain any traction for more than half of the game from start of the second quarter to the middle of the fourth quarter.

Spring Valley clung to a 15-12 lead with quarterback Brant Berglund playing through a twisted ankle. Berglund and Andre Bartley both scored rushing touchdowns, but the offense understandably slowed after the injury and it was up to the defense to lead Spring Valley.

“We had some really great play on the defensive line,” Teal said. “We came out and improved there.”

Senior receiver Chase Michel made a memorable catch on a jump ball at the two-yard line to set up the Grizzlies' first score. Landon LeBlue also knocked in a field goal for Spring Valley in the first half.
