Traffic is slow-going at the Las Vegas Beltway and Interstate 15 after a tractor-trailer rolled over and spilled a load of lumber on an access ramp in the area.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said the accident occurred about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday as the truck’s driver was heading from the westbound Las Vegas Beltway to an access ramp to I-15. The truck's load shifted on a curve just as it reached an area on the access ramp where vehicles can either exit to Frank Sinatra Drive or Russell Road or continue onto I-15. The shifting load caused the tractor-trailer to overturn.

Hixson said the result was a load of lumber – 2x4’s, 4x6’s and 12x2’s – spilled over the Frank Sinatra/Russell access ramp’s two lanes.

“It looks like it was a full load,” Hixson said as cleanup of the scene continued.

The driver, a 35-year-old Arizona man, escaped injury, Hixson said.

Hixson at noon said traffic from the westbound beltway still could make its way to I-15, though there were traffic backups. Access to Frank Sinatra Drive and Russell Road was shut off at the ramp, and eastbound traffic on the beltway to I-15 also was closed while cleanup continued.
