A fire broke out this morning at an empty mobile home that was scheduled to be demolished next week.

Nobody was injured.

The fire was reported after 11 a.m. in the 6500 block of Delphinium Avenue, near Rainbow Boulevard and Craig Road. The fire sent up a thick plume of black smoke that could be seen across the Las Vegas Valley.

There was extensive fire damage to the property, which has been vacant for years, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

Although the cause of the fire has not been determined, there were reports of homeless people going into and out of the home, he said.

There were no utilities or external factors that would have caused the house to catch fire, he said.
