Metro investigating death at Summerlin construction site

Metro Police are investigating a death at the Summerlin shopping center construction site today.

Police officers were called to the 1000 block of Summerlin Centre Drive at 8:46 a.m., according to Metro spokesman Jose Hernandez. Metro said a construction worker had fallen at the site, but no further details were given.

The Howard Hughes Corp., which owns The Shops at Summerlin, issued a statement following the incident.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of the individual and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and colleagues during this very difficult time. The Howard Hughes Corp. is dedicated to the safety of all workers on our construction projects.”

Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials are also investigating the death.
