A shooting Monday night at a northwest valley apartment complex left one man injured, Metro Police reported.

The shooting happened about 8 p.m. at the Rancho Mesa Apartments, near Rancho Drive and Decatur Boulevard, after an altercation between two groups, police said.

There were “words exchanged” between the groups, followed by multiple shots fired, Lt. Harry Fagel said. One man suffered injuries not considered to be life-threatening, police said.
