A fire in a vacant house caused $50,000 in damage Sunday morning before firefighters were able to extinguish the flames.

Fire units responded to 238 S. 17th Street around 3:15 a.m. after a neighbor reported flames and smoke coming from a vacant downtown house, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue said.

When firefighters arrived, the flames could be seen burning through the roof, officials said. Crews got the blaze under control in about 15 minutes.

No other homes were damaged, and no one was injured.
