The clock is ticking for aspiring Las Vegas police officers.

Metro Police began accepting applications Monday for police recruits. The deadline to apply is July 8 but could be moved up if the department receives 2,500 applications before that date.

Candidates must possess a high-school degree or a general education diploma (GED), as well as a valid Nevada driver’s license at the time of hire. Applicants also must be 21 years of age and a citizen of the United States by July 10.

Those interested in applying should visit Metro’s employment page at lvmpd.com, which includes a listing of other requirements.
