A climber was seriously injured Tuesday morning after falling nearly 40 feet at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
A Las Vegas fire department rescue team responded to the incident about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday near Scenic Drive in the Calico Basin, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said.
The person appeared to be climbing when a rope gave way, he said.
Responders carried the victim to a helicopter to be transported to University Medical Center. The person suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, Szymanski said.
