It might not make the heat any more bearable, but Las Vegas Valley motorists will have something to be thankful for this summer: Gas prices should remain level throughout the summer.
Statewide, the average price per gallon sits at $3.60, up $0.01 from May and just a hair under the national average of $3.63, according to a study by AAA Nevada. North Las Vegas had the lowest average gas price across the state at $3.47 a gallon, with Las Vegas sitting at $3.49 and Henderson at $3.51.
The state’s highest prices were found in Elko, where gas is $3.93 a gallon.
Nevada’s gas prices are for the most part lower than many of the surrounding metropolitan areas, including St. George, Utah ($3.62); Los Angeles ($4.00); and Salt Lake City ($3.72).
The steady price level is due to a number of factors, AAA Nevada spokeswoman Cynthia Harris said in a statement.
“Increased refinery production, steady crude oil prices and less demand by consumers are the factors driving the trend,” she said.
