Metro Police on Tuesday were investigating the explosion of an apparent pipe bomb in the northeast valley.

No one was injured in the explosion, Metro spokeswoman Officer Laura Meltzer said.

The incident occurred in the 2200 block of Little River Court, in the area of Lake Mead and Hollywood boulevards, police said.

Metro received a call at 3:22 a.m. from a resident who initially reported hearing gunfire but later reported finding what appeared to be damage to the garage and a vehicle that appeared to be caused by an explosion, Meltzer said.

Metro’s armor unit was investigating, she said.

Most bomb calls are related to suspicious packages or unattended bags, with actual explosions being relatively rare, Meltzer said.
