Henderson house fire

Two adults were displaced from their Henderson home on Wednesday after a fire crept into the attic and collapsed their roof.

Henderson Fire responded to reports of a blaze about 5:10 p.m. at a home on St. Augustine Lane, near Santiago Drive and Stephanie Street. Neighbors alerted the two adults in the home to evacuate, Henderson Battalion Chief Tim McKeever said.

Firefighters arrived about five minutes later to find heavy smoke flowing from the attic and the rear. The flames consumed the attic, causing the roof to collapse, McKeever said. The occupants were not injured in the incident, but one firefighter was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

The fire caused about $210,000 in damage to the home. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
