Metro targets drunk drivers with checkpoint tonight

Fri, May 3, 2013 (12:14 p.m.)

Metro Police will be conducting a DUI checkpoint Friday in a northeast valley location prone to incidents of impaired driving.

The checkpoint will be on Lamb Boulevard, south of Charleston Boulevard, police said. It will be in operation from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities said officers will be screening drivers to identify those impaired by drug or alcohol use — part of an ongoing effort to reduce crashes related to impaired driving.
