Motorcycle crash
A motorcyclist who died Wednesday night after crashing into a palm tree in the northwest Las Vegas Valley has been identified.
Johnny Jay Hopfe, 28, was heading north on Centennial Center Boulevard just south of Azure Drive about 9:30 p.m. when he veered off the road to the right, striking the tree.
He was killed on impact.
Hopfe’s death was the 98th traffic fatality this year within Metro’s jurisdiction.
