Another sign that downtown is changing: the 4th Annual Halloween Parade will be held on Fremont Street.
It will start in an area that even a year ago few would walk in at night, marching west to the Fremont Street Entertainment District.
Last year, the parade began at 4th and Garces and moved north to 3rd and Ogden, never touching Fremont Street.
With a kickoff by parade queen Claire Sinclair, who stars in “Pin Up” at the Stratosphere, the march starts at 7 p.m. Thursday. Anyone in a costume can join the parade, which begins lining up at 6 p.m. at Fremont and 13th streets.
A free after-parade party will be held at Fremont and 7th streets. The official pre-party will be held at the Atomic, between 9th and 10th streets on Fremont.
Awards will be given for best group costume; best float/art car; best illuminated costume; best baby costume (0-10 years old); and most outrageous costume.

Produced by Flyingpan Productions, the parade is sponsored by Downtown Project, Zappos, Source 1 Events and the El Cortez.
