Two people have thrown their hat in the ring to become the next sheriff of Clark County.
Robert “Bobby G” Gronauer, a former Las Vegas Township constable, announced this morning his intention to run for sheriff.
“A new month brings a fresh perspective and new challenges,” Gronauer said in a statement released to the media. “With this in mind, we are excited and proud to announce that I will be a candidate for Sheriff of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.”
Gronauer is currently president of his Las Vegas-based private investigations and security company, Bobby G & Associates. In 1999, Gronauer retired as a sergeant from Metro Police after a 24-year career with the department, according to a biography on his company website.
Metro Police officer Laurie Bisch also announced her candidacy Monday during an interview with KSNV Channel 3.
“I think the citizens are looking for a change,” she told KSNV. “They’re looking for more of a different leadership style.”
Bisch also ran for sheriff in 2010 and 2006.
Bisch, a patrol officer in the Bolden Area Command, has been employed by Metro since September 1993.
Incumbent Sheriff Doug Gillespie announced last month he would not seek a third term in 2014 and would instead serve out his term, which expires in January 2015.
