Vending machine explodes at Washoe County school

Fri, Sep 13, 2013 (9:18 a.m.)

School district officials say Spanish Springs High School was evacuated after a vending machine exploded on campus.

Washoe County School District spokesman Charles Rahn says the bomb squad is on site investigating what caused the explosion about 7:45 a.m. Friday. Rahn says no injuries have been reported.

Officials say students were ushered to the school's football field and are expected to be reunited with their parents.

Rahn says the explosion set off fire alarms and activated sprinklers that flooded the school. He says classes have been cancelled for the day.
