An arrest warrant has been issued on two counts of murder for a 16-year-old Henderson boy suspected in the stabbing deaths of his mother and 9-year-old brother, authorities announced today.

Police are searching for Adrian Navarro-Canales in connection with the death of his mother, Elvira Canales-Gomez, 40, and brother Cesar Navarro, Henderson Police spokesman Keith Paul said.

Police began searching for Navarro-Canales after discovering the bodies of his relatives during a welfare check at their Summit at Sunridge apartment in the 11000 block of South Eastern Avenue.

Canales-Gomez had failed to show up for work and the boy hadn’t been at school since Wednesday, Paul said.

When officers arrived, Navarro-Canales was not home, and authorities initially believed he might also be a victim, Paul said.

By Sunday, however, detectives had developed probable cause to arrest Navarro-Canales in connection with his mother’s and brother’s deaths.

Police urge anyone with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of Adrian Navarro to call Henderson Police at 267-4750 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 385-5555, or online at crimestoppersofnv.com.
