“Money” is at it again.
Boxing champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather took to Twitter this week to brag about winning a combined $75,000 in two Final Four bets on the Connecticut Huskies, the eventual national champion.
“I bet on the underdogs @uconnhuskies twice within the last three days. $75,636,” Mayweather tweeted on Tuesday, posting pictures of two winning tickets. He made a similar post on his Instagram account.
On Saturday, he placed a $37,000 halftime wager on the Huskies, getting six points in a national semifinals contest. Connecticut defeated the favored Florida Gators, resulting in Mayweather winning $33,636.35.
For Monday’s championship game, Mayweather again went with the Huskies. This timethe Las Vegas boxer placed a $30,000 moneyline bet that paid him $42,000 when Connecticut scored a 60-54 upset over Kentucky.
Mayweather has been known to bet large sums on sporting events. In September 2013, on his Twitter account he bragged about winning $200,000 on a $220,000 bet on a Texas A&M football game. The tweet, which has since been deleted, included a photo of the winning ticket.
In February, though, he denied losing a $10 million bet on the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl.
In a post on his Instagram account, Mayweather congratulated the Seattle Seahawks for their crushing 43-8 victory and said, “For the record, I did NOT bet $10 million on the Broncos. As a matter of fact, I didn’t bet at all...The only thing I would bet $10 million on is MYSELF. From the looks of my record, I’m a guaranteed WIN!!!”
He’ll get that chance next month: The undefeated WBC Welterweight champion will fight Robert Guerrero on May 4 in a scheduled 12-round fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
