Fri, Apr 18, 2014 (11 p.m.)

The Las Vegas Wranglers were defeated 4-1 today at the Alaska Aces in the opening game of a best-of-seven ECHL hockey playoff series.

Las Vegas was held scoreless in the second and third periods, and couldn’t overcome surrendering two goals in the final 1:59 of the first period. Top-seeded Alaska scored its third goal in less than three minutes when Jordan Morrison found the back of the net just 37 seconds into the second period for the final margin of victory.

John Armstrong scored the Wranglers’ goal at the 15:21 mark of the first period on an assist from John Nehring. The Wranglers were outshot, 36-18.

The series continues at 8:15 p.m. Saturday in Alaska. Game 3 is April 23 in Las Vegas.
