Letter to the editor:

An important question

Sun, Aug 24, 2014 (2 a.m.)

When we invaded Iraq in 2003, Saddam put up his military against ours in conventional fashion … and got his head handed to him. The terrorists in the insurgency that followed were much wiser and blended in with regular Iraqis and were much harder to fight without huge noncombatant causalities. We should demand that our military and civilian leadership explain what we will do when the ISIS ‘army’ melts into the noncombatant population in Iraq and Syria if we put boots on the ground.
