Authorities in Henderson are terming the death of a 42-year-old inmate at the city jail an apparent suicide.

City police spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said Wednesday the man was discovered unresponsive on the floor of his cell about 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The Clark County coroner didn't immediately release a name or cause of death.

Richards says jailers and paramedics tried to revive the man, and officials found what was characterized as a suicide note in his cell.

The death is the second in less than a month at the Henderson Detention Center.

A cause of death is still pending after 48-year-old Howard Roy Jr. Gentry died Nov. 5 in a jail booking area.

Richards had said Gentry was heavyset, but hadn't reported any health problems before suffering an apparent medical episode.
