CARSON CITY — The state Board of Examiners agreed today to spend an additional $339,000 to hire a private law firm to defend a lawsuit alleging that patients from the Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital in Las Vegas were bused to California without adequate treatment plans.
The board approved a request by Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto to raise from $49,000 to $388,000 a contract with the San Francisco law firm of Bingham McCutchen LLP to defend the state in the suit by the city and county of San Francisco.
