A judge agreed to take testimony from one out-of-town witness but postponed the rest of a preliminary hearing for a 64-year-old ex-convict from Texas accused of opening fire at security guards at a downtown Las Vegas bus terminal.

Justice of the Peace Diana Sullivan set a March 12 date to complete the hearing and decide whether James Calvin Abney should stand trial in state court on multiple felony charges in the Dec. 5 shooting.

Abney allegedly fired five shots but no one was injured at the Greyhound bus station on Main Street.

Police quickly arrested Abney on felony attempted murder, assault with a weapon and firearm charges that could get him decades in state prison.

Abney is from Forney, Texas. He's jailed in Las Vegas on $150,000 bail.
