A sewer worker in Las Vegas was injured and trapped today under a piece of heavy equipment in an 18-foot-deep trench.
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue’s Heavy Rescue Team responded about 11:30 a.m. to 5426 Vegas Drive, near Jones Boulevard, where a crew has been working on a sewer project since late August.
The male worker was pulled from the trench and transported to University Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, fire department spokesman Tim Szymanski said.
According to a worker at the site, a piece of equipment used to hold metal plates to a wall along the sewer line failed and fell on the man’s back, Szymanski said. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident.
