A jury has found a 34-year-old North Las Vegas man guilty of using Craigslist to lure a child for sex last year.
The U.S. Attorney's office announced that Sergio Torres was convicted Wednesday of coercion and enticement. He faces at least a decade in prison at his sentencing, which is set for Oct. 6.
Henderson police say Torres posted an ad on the online classifieds site saying he was seeking a girl to take his virginity. Authorities say an undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old girl responded to the ad March 7, 2013, and discussed plans for a sexual encounter over text and email.
Police say Torres was arrested on the day he was supposed to meet up with the girl in a Sunset Station casino hotel room.
