North Las Vegas Police have released the name of the officer who shot and killed 34-year-old Kenneth Johnson during a police chase Friday.
Officer Robert Makinster is on routine paid leave after shooting Johnson multiple times.
Johnson fled from police during a traffic stop, riding his moped into a residential area near Tropical Parkway and Revere Street, police said.
He eventually got off the moped and led police on a foot chase through neighborhood streets, where he allegedly pulled out a handgun that was later determined to be a pellet gun.
Makinster has been with the department for six years, officials said.
