A man shot to death after he reportedly stabbed a Henderson Police officer early Tuesday was identified today by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as 51-year-old Jesse Vigil.

Two officers stopped Vigil, who was riding a bike, about about 3:30 a.m. on Horizon Drive near Boulder Highway, city spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said. The officers were talking with Vigil when he became belligerent, she said.

Vigil took out a knife and stabbed one of the officers before he was shot, Richards said. Both officers fired at Vigil, she said.

The wounded officer was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in stable condition. He was released late Tuesday morning, Richards said.

The coroner had not determined Vigil’s hometown.
