Barricade

A man is in custody after barricading himself and a woman in a downtown Las Vegas apartment — near 10th Street and Stewart Avenue — this afternoon, according to Metro Police.

A neighbor called Metro Police at 3:15 p.m. after she saw the man hitting the woman, Lt. Mark Reddon said.

The man refused to come out to talk to officers and wouldn't let the woman leave, Reddon said.

The woman escaped through a window, he said. The man — who was unarmed — surrendered just before 5:30 p.m. after talking with SWAT on the phone, Reddon said.
