Mother charged with attempted murder in shooting of son, 11

The mother of an 11-year-old boy fighting for his life after a shooting Monday is under arrest in the incident.

Metro Police said Shavon Aguilar, also known as Shavon Carrillo, 31, was arrested on counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, child abuse with a deadly weapon and child abuse with mental harm. Aguilar is jailed without bond at the Clark County Detention Center.

Just after 5 a.m. Monday, Metro patrol officers dispatched to a home the 5200 block of Pebble Beach Boulevard, near Vegas Drive and North Decatur Boulevard, found the 11-year-old suffering an apparent gunshot wound.

The juvenile was rushed to University Medical Center and is in the pediatric intensive care unit. Early this afternoon, police said the boy remained in critical condition but was not expected to survive.

Homicide detectives called to the scene arrested Aguilar after their investigation, but details about the shooting have not been released.

Two other juveniles and one other adult who were in the residence at the time of the incident were not injured.
