A Tennessee technology services company is expanding to Las Vegas, creating 800 jobs within five years.

Nashville-based Asurion LLC replaces lost, stolen and damaged cellphones and other technology devices.

The Governor's Office of Economic Development said Tuesday that the company will open a call center in northwest Las Vegas. The office estimated the economic impact to Nevada at $1 billion over the next 10 years.

Asurion's director of public policy and economic development, Paul Fassbender, says Nevada's business-friendly environment caught the company's attention.

The board of directors for the Governor's Office of Economic Development approved a trio of tax incentives earlier this year.

Representatives of Asurion say 500 people will be hired for the call center during the first year of operation.
