A 17-year-old girl killed when the car she was riding in struck a light pole early Sunday has been identified as Guadalupe Rodriguez, the Clark County Coroner's Office said.

Rodriguez, a Las Vegas resident, died of multiple blunt force motor vehicle trauma after the crash on Sahara Avenue west of Sloan Lane in the east valley, officials said.

According to a Metro Police news release, a 2008 Toyota Avalon was driving on Sahara about 12:30 a.m. when the driver lost control while navigating the street's curves.

Police said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The Toyota rotated before hitting a light pole on the median, police said.

Rodriguez, the right front passenger, was ejected from the car and pronounced dead on scene, the release said.

A 13-year-old girl and another female passenger were taken to Sunrise Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver, 18-year-old Tristan Hicks, suffered minor injuries and left the area on foot before he was arrested near his residence for fleeing the scene, police said.
