A bicyclist struck by a small truck in the southeast valley this afternoon is in critical condition, police said.

Metro Police received a call about 4:40 p.m. of a bicyclist being struck near Boulder Highway and East Tropicana Avenue, Officer Jesse Roybal said in a statement.

The cyclist, an adult male, was taken to the Trauma Center at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in critical condition, Lt. Yaz Yatomi said.

Yatomi said the driver of the truck remained on scene.

Traffic in both directions on Tropicana was closed at Andover Drive for the investigation, but all traffic is now open.
