With two weeks before the election, President Bill Clinton is planning to come to Nevada to rally Democratic support at the polls.
Clinton will be in Las Vegas on Tuesday at the Springs Preserve.
The trip, first reported by Nevada journalist Jon Ralston, comes as Republicans have been outpacing Democrats in early voting in Nevada, including in traditionally Democratic stronghold Clark County.
Democrats got more bad election news this week when a Republican political action committee, Crossroads GPS, announced it was spending $822,000 in TV ads against Democratic Rep. Steven Horsford in what had been his sleepy re-election campaign to represent North Las Vegas and central Nevada.
Clinton follows on the trail of his wife, Hillary Clinton, who visited Nevada Oct. 13 to speak at the UNLV Foundation and a Sen. Harry Reid fundraiser.
Underscoring the state’s importance in presidential politics, Vice President Joe Biden came to Nevada in October. Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley has also swung by the state. All three are considered possible Democratic presidential contenders.
