A campground at Death Valley National Park will be temporarily closed because of construction work, park officials said.
The Furnace Creek Campground will be closed from Sept. 10 to mid-October for basic maintenance and construction, including restroom maintenance, paving, and preparing the campground for the season, said Cheryl Chipman, management assistant at the park, which juts across the California-Nevada state line.
The Texas Spring Campground, which is about a mile from Furnace Creek and has similar amenities, will be open on a first-come, first-serve basis for visitors during the construction.
