Virgin Valley wasn’t rattled after Rancho scored first tonight.

Far from it.

The Bulldogs responded to an early Rams touchdown by cruising to a 50-13 home win thanks to highlight-reel plays on offense, defense and special teams.

Virgin Valley’s Brayden Lee scored on a punt blocked into the end zone by Kai Mitchell, Jaret Tietjen returned an interception for a touchdown and the Bulldogs also notched a safety.

“I loved how we came out. There’s no panic in our boys,” Virgin Valley coach Yori Ludvigson said. “It was good when (we) had a little adversity. We just went through it and bounced back.”

Part of the bouncing back for the Bulldogs (2-2) was thanks to Mitchell, who scored two touchdowns, and Cody Jones, Tony Urias and Jaron Linge, who scored one TD apiece.

Mitchell scored on runs of 26 and 5 yards. Urias scored on a 3-yard bootleg run, Linge a 1-yard sneak and Jones a 21-yard run.

“It was good to see their energy and emotion,” Ludvigson said. “It was a good game we needed to get going again.”

Rancho, which is playing an independent schedule this season, dropped to 0-4.
