Clark coach Don Willis said quarterback Nick Kinnard is beginning to find a rhythm directing the Chargers’ offense.
The sophomore took major steps in that direction Saturday night.
Kinnard threw touchdown passes of 85 yards to Isaiah Lyles-May and 70 yards to Marquice Stuart and added a 7-yard touchdown run to help Clark overwhelm visiting Pahrump Valley, 34-13.
“He’s settling into a groove running and throwing for us,” Willis said of Kinnard.
The Chargers (3-2, 2-1 Division I-A Sunset) also got a 5-yard rushing TD from Ty’Rek Wells and an 80-yard interception return for a score from Donovan Jackson.
“Donovan’s a great kid,” Willis said. “He’s always where he’s supposed to be; he was there tonight, and something great happened for him.”
The Chargers beat defending Division I-A state champion Faith Lutheran two weeks ago but suffered a 37-6 loss at Spring Valley last week. Willis was pleased with how his team bounced back.
“I think it puts us right back in the hunt,” he said. “We play a really good Sierra Vista team next week.”
Pahrump Valley fell to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in league.
