Chance of rain, increasing heat in forecast for Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Valley could see some rain today, with a 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures should remain in the upper 90s for most of the day, accompanied by southeastern winds at 10 to 15 mph, meteorologist Mike Paddock said.

Nightfall will bring temperatures of 78 to 83 degrees on the west side of the valley and 80 to 85 degrees on the east side.

The warm weather will continue into the weekend, with highs ranging from 108 to 110 degrees. Weekend lows will be between 80 and 86 degrees.
