5 kids taken to hospital for checks after Kingman bus crash

KINGMAN, Ariz. — Police says five students were taken to a Kingman hospital as a precaution after their school bus driver pulled out in front of a car and the bus was hit broadside.

Kingman police spokeswoman Jennifer Sochocki says the two women in the car suffered non-life threatening injuries mainly caused by their seat belts and deployment of their sedan's air bags.

The accident Thursday morning happened after 21-year-old Cody Strawan of Kingman pulled the bus into traffic after stopping at a stop sign. Sochocki says he was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.

The remaining students on the bus were released to their parents or guardians.
